Spotlight on Travelers – Detroit ’67 Executive Sponsor
With a shared vision and set of community-based values, and a dedicated commitment to the cultural and educational enrichment of residents of the City of Hartford, Travelers and the Travelers Foundation have been longstanding contributors and supporters of Hartford Stage’s mission: “… to have a transformative impact on our audiences, our community, and our field.” The generous funding from Travelers is directed toward artistic productions, education programs, special events and community engagement initiatives.
As Executive Sponsor of Dominique Morisseau’s Detroit ’67, Travelers is using the performance as a vehicle to engage employees throughout the company.
Fifty Travelers employees, representing different business areas and levels, as well as eight of the company’s diversity networks (employee resources groups dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment), will attend the performance on February 20. Before the show, they will have a private reception in the upper lobby to learn about our production from a member of the Hartford Stage artistic staff. The following day, Hartford Stage staff will help facilitate a post-show conversation at the Travelers office in Hartford to discuss the themes in the play, the historical moment the play portrays, and how the issues the play highlights relate to racial equity in our own community today.
“This unique partnership takes our longtime support of the arts one step further,” said Tara Spain, Second Vice President of Community Relations at Travelers and Vice President of the Travelers Foundation. “This is a great way to strengthen the relationship we have with Hartford Stage while helping to foster further conversations with our employees about diversity and inclusion.”
Other companies that are interested in arranging a similar engagement with Hartford Stage are encouraged to call Director of Development Antay Bilgutay at 860-520-7249.
