Backstage Benefits

By Aida Garrido, Development Apprentice

The life of a theatre extends well beyond what audiences see on stage. The Development team offeras unique programs enabling patrons to deepen their relationship to the art they see at Hartford Stage. Have you ever wondered what truly goes on behind the scenes? Three upcoming donor events give patrons the exciting backstage scoop.

Open technical rehearsals enable active donors to see firsthand all of the work involved in staging a play before it begins its run. Open technical rehearsals are held for each production on the Tuesday evening before previews. The technical rehearsal starts in the lobby, with a presentation and Q&A session with the play’s director and members of the Hartford Stage artistic team. Following the discussion, attendees are seated in the theatre and given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at a working rehearsal. Hartford Stage donors interested in attending open technical rehearsals can contact Kati Liss-Hensel, Manager of Major Gifts and Planned Giving, at events@hartfordstage.org or (860) 520-7241.
