Robinson+Cole Supports Brightness & Hartford’s Bright Future

Based in Hartford, Robinson+Cole is a law firm with clients ranging from Fortune 500 to start-up companies, as well as non-profit and governmental organizations. Over the years, Robinson+Cole has been an active supporter of Hartford Stage, specifically committed to programming that addresses themes of diversity. The firm’s Diversity Action Plan seeks to achieve an inclusive, highly diverse, and flexible work environment that values and respects all employees. And this mission extends beyond the workplace as Robinson+Cole has been “proud to partner with Hartford Stage to bring plays that address themes of diversity to our community,” according to Eric D. Daniels, Partner in Charge of the firm’s Hartford office. Previous productions they have sponsored include: Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters First 100 Years, Somewhere, The Pianist of Willesden Lane, among countless others.
Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey is a natural fit for Robinson+Cole because of the play’s message of inclusion. The production, whose story focuses on a young boy who is bullied because his appearance and behavior are perceived as “different” by his peers, is a theater experience perfect for teens. In fact, Hartford Stage will be offering post-show discussions and workshops for students who attend the show to deepen their experience. Robinson+Cole believes that “engaging young audiences…leads to both a greater appreciation for the arts and thoughtful evaluation of important social issues. An opportunity for young people to discuss the topic of bullying is especially important given the unfortunate reality that many young people experience some form of bullying during their formative years.”
Supporting students access to the arts is just one of the ways Robinson+Cole contributes to Hartford’s bright future. Both Hartford Stage and Robinson+Cole recognize the evolving vitality of our downtown city center. From Dunkin’ Donuts Park to UConn’s new downtown campus opening in the fall, our neighborhood has a bright future, too. With the recently announced incredible support from Aetna, The Hartford, and Travelers for the city of Hartford, Robinson+Cole is confident the momentum will continue. Hartford Stage is thankful for such a reliable and socially responsible next door neighbor and looks forward to our continued partnership.
The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey runs March 30 – April 23 at Hartford Stage. Buy your tickets today! For information, visit www.hartfordstage.org.
