Neorealism
The imagery for this production is inspired by the work of Italian neorealist cinema, with its stark contrasts between majestic architecture and war-torn rubble, its deglamorized view of a society dealing with economic strife. Filmmakers like De Sica, Rossellini, Visconti and Pasolini showed us the desolation – and contrasting beauty—of life in Post-War Italy.
